Mission

GeneBio SA:

  • commercialize intellectual property and associated services and resources developed at SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics
  • foster partnerships between SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics and the industry

History

Established in 1997, GeneBio SA was created by Ron Appel, Executive Director of the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, Amos Bairoch and Denis Hochstrasser in parallel with the establishment of the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. The company first focused on its expertise in protein identification and characterization as well as proteome imaging, offering clients and partners a high degree of specialization essential to proteomics research.

Close ties to academic peers and a thorough network of distribution and strategic partners gave GeneBio SA both unfettered access to scientific excellence and recognized market presence so that the company may best serve the scientific community. Today, GeneBio SA offers a larger portfolio of bioinformatics products ranging from small molecules identification to proteomics software and databases and drug design tools.
